Fifty mice were placed in an atmosphere of 10% oxygen and sacrificed at intervals. Twenty-one of the animals were simultaneously given methyl-dopate-HCI. Hypoxic control mice developed medial hyperplasia in small pulmonary arteries and right ventricular cardiac hypertrophy. These abnormalities did not develop in the drug-treated animals.
