Forced immobilization protected the rat against the soft-tissue calcinosis normally produced by large doses of parathyroid extract. This protection was evident even in adrenalectomized animals maintained on corticoids; indeed, in these, exposure to the severe stress of prolonged restraint actually counteracted the otherwise fatal effect of intense hyperparathyroidism.
Key Words: stress and hyperparathyroidism calcinosis influenced by stress hyperparathyroidism influenced by stress cross resistance influenced by adrenalectomy
