Lipolytic activity of rabbit aorta in vitro

S. J. Zsoldos 1 and H. O. Heinemann 1

1 Department of Medicine, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Francis Delafield Hospital, New York City

Lipolytic activity of rabbit aorta was demonstrated by perfusing the aorta in vitro with a 2% nonactivated triglyceride mixture in saline. The enzyme system responsible for the hydrolysis shares many but not all of the characteristics of a lipoprotein lipase.

Key Words: lipoprotein lipase • arterial lipid metabolism • triglyceride hydrolysis by arterial tissue • aortic intima and lipolytic • activity
