The elevation of plasma fibrinogen, thrombocytes with concomitant depletion of plasma fibrinolysin activity was observed in animals treated with the sodium salts of ketone bodies (acetoacetate and ß-hydroxybutyrate) for 4, 8, and 12 weeks. While malonate was given together with acetoacetate and ß-hydroxybutyrate the changes were more pronounced. The results indicated the possible influence of disturbance in metabolism of ketone bodies in the development of thrombosis.
