Effect of acetoacetate on blood coagulation in rabbits and its prevention

M. C. Nath 1 and D. M. Brahmankar 1

1 University Department of Biochemistry, Nagpur, India

The effect of Na-acetoacetate injections on blood coagulation factors was studied. No change in blood coagulation factors occurred in 4 weeks, but continued treatment of acetoacetate for 8 weeks was found to cause hastening of blood coagulation. The hydrolyzed product of glucose cycloacetoacetate was found to prevent the acceleration of blood coagulation in acetoacetate-treated animals.
