An isolated, perfused adrenal gland preparation in the dog was used to study the direct effect of glucagon on adrenal secretion of hydrocortisone, epinephrine and norepinephrine. Glucagon was demonstrated to have a marked stimulatory effect on catecholamine secretion while having no effect on hydrocortisone secretion. The physiologic implications of these findings are discussed.
