Acute hypercalcemia was produced by infusing calcium gluconate intravenously in dogs undergoing mannitol diuresis. The fraction of filtered sodium which was reabsorbed decreased, in association with a fall in glomerular filtration rate. Slight to moderate decreases in TcH2O were observed, but urine did not become hypotonic to plasma.
