Sensitization by Insulin to Dextran Anaphylactoid Inflammation in Spinal Rats

V. W. Adamkiewicz 1, Y. L. Langlois 1, and L. J. Poirier 1

1 From the Département de Physiologie and Département d'Histologie, Université de Montréal, Montréal, Canada

Insulin sensitizes normal rats considerably to the ‘anaphylactoid’ inflammation produced by the administration of dextran. This sensitization manifests itself to the same extent in the spinal rats. Therefore, the sensitization takes place despite the interruption of the spinal nervous pathways and despite the stress.
