Prothrombin preparations, obtained from human ACD blood plasma and characterized by certain chemical, physical and biological measurement, were subjected to various types of electrophoretic analysis. Evidence obtained by starch block electrophoresis of these products appears to indicate that human prothrombin requires a factor similar in properties to prothrombin itself, for optimum biological conversion to thrombin in vitro.
