Effect of Estrogen on Thyroid Uptake of I131 in Adrenalectomized Rats

Joseph D. Feldman 1

1 From the Department of Pathology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The administration of estrogen to adrenalectomized castrate and castrate male rats more than doubled the thyroid uptake of 1131 as compared with controls receiving saline. The presence or absence of the adrenal did not influence this estrogen effect.
